Ankit Kumar

Ankit Kumar is a Senior Sub Editor at Zee Business, where he writes and edits across economy, international affairs, politics, climate policy, financial markets, business, personal finance and elections. His work is shaped by years of experience in fast-paced digital newsrooms and policy-research environments, giving him the ability to break down complex geopolitical and economic developments into clear, reader-focused journalism. Over the years, he has built a reputation for analytical rigour, contextual clarity and strong editorial discipline - qualities that define both his daily newsroom output and his longer-form analytical pieces.

 

Before joining Zee Business, Ankit worked with Grant Thornton, Jagran English and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs. At these organisations, he contributed to policy-oriented research, cultural diplomacy documentation, editorial publications and strategic communication projects. These roles exposed him to the inner workings of government institutions, foreign policy ecosystems, economic diplomacy frameworks and global narrative-building. The experience strengthened his subject-matter depth and informs much of the geopolitical and policy-driven reporting he produces today.

 

Ankit holds a postgraduate degree in East Asian Studies from the University of Delhi, where he specialised in geopolitics, China studies, regional strategic affairs and international economic systems. He further broadened his academic grounding by attending the International Summer Programme on Poverty and Mental Health at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which deepened his understanding of how global policy and economic structures shape lived realities. Inside the newsroom, Ankit has handled and edited hundreds of real-time stories - from volatile market movements and election developments to major global events requiring rapid, accurate and context-rich reporting. His editorial approach leans strongly towards verified sourcing, transparent information, factual precision and ethical newsroom standards. He is known for simplifying complex global narratives for Indian audiences, ensuring that every piece he works on carries both immediacy and long-term perspective.
