Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) consumers in Mumbai and surrounding regions will now have to pay higher prices, as rates have been increased by Rs 2 per kilogram.
With the revision, the retail price of CNG has gone up from Rs 84 per kilogram to Rs 86 per kilogram, according to the latest update. The increase is expected to directly impact a wide range of users, including private vehicle owners, taxi operators, auto-rickshaw drivers, and commercial transport vehicles that rely on CNG as a primary fuel source.
The price hike is likely to raise operating costs for daily commuters as well as the public transport sector, particularly in a city where CNG is widely used as a cleaner and more economical alternative to petrol and diesel.

In an official communication, the Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) informed all dealers about the revised rates, confirming the immediate effect of the new pricing structure across the distribution network.
The increase adds to ongoing fuel cost pressures faced by transport operators in the region and may eventually be reflected in fare revisions, depending on market responses and regulatory decisions.
