Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday greeted the people of India on the occasion of National Voters' Day. He urged citizens to understand their responsibility of protecting the voting system which serves as the foundation of democracy.
Amit Shah used the social media platform X to announce that 'National Voters Day' reminds all about the equal voting power which the Constitution grants to every citizen.

He explained that the right vote can guide the nation in the right direction. He further mentioned that the moral duty of citizens is to safeguard the electoral system and ensure that no external influence harms it.
He called upon citizens to renew their commitment to using their votes to build a strong and developed India.
The Election Commission of India was established on January 25 1950 which marks this date as its foundation day because India became a republic one day later. The day aims to motivate young voters to participate in democracy and exercise their voting rights.
The project seeks to enhance the precision and trustworthiness of the voter database. Through electoral roll updates the Election Commission plans to confirm that all eligible voters receive registration while eliminating all false and duplicated voter records.

This measure serves as a critical element that protects the authenticity of India electoral processes.
The Election Commission of India declared that the year 2025 brought forth a series of significant victories and new technological developments, ANI reported.
The organization introduced approximately 30 important programs which aimed to enhance both election administration and voter support services.
The organization dedicated its resources to develop capacity-building initiatives which supported election personnel.
The India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in New Delhi trained over 5000 Booth Level Officers and state supervisors through its educational programs. The programs aimed to improve the performance and capabilities of election officials who handled electoral duties.
Multiple new initiatives launched to provide citizens with easier and more accessible voting options. The Election Commission developed the ECINet App which consolidates all voter services into one digital interface.
The application enables voters to locate information and services in a straightforward manner. Polling stations received mobile deposit options which enhanced voter convenience during the election process.
Since 2011, National Voters' Day has been celebrated every year to honour the Election Commission's foundation and to inspire citizens, especially young people, to actively participate in elections. The day serves as a reminder that voting is not just a right but also a responsibility, and every vote plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation.
