SBI in Focus: Chairman sees 15% loan growth, says Middle East crisis no threat yet; Rs 3 lakh crore buffer strong

SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty said that the ongoing Middle East conflict has not derailed the bank’s FY27 loan growth and margin outlook, but warns that a prolonged war and rising inflation could hurt consumption demand and economic activity as the stock plunged to record low on Friday. He also dismissed funding concerns citing nearly Rs 3 lakh crore excess liquidity to support up to 17 per cent credit growth.
